Student Ambassador Nuvneet attends her first BCLA  conference

As a BCLA student ambassador for Glasgow Caledonian University, I had the opportunity to attend the BCLA Clinical Conference and Exhibition in Manchester for the first time this year. I had an amazing experience where I had the chance to learn from experts in the field, connect with colleagues, and witness the behind-the-scenes workings of a large conference.

Throughout the conference, I attended several lectures on a variety of interesting topics, including myopia management and dry eye disease. I also had the chance to interact with representatives from companies that manufacture contact lenses and associated products. This allowed me to gain new insights into the latest research and technologies in the contact lens industry.
As part of my role as a student ambassador, I had a variety of responsibilities, such as helping out at the registration desk, microphone duty for the questions and answer sessions after lectures and scanning delegates in and out of sessions so they could receive their CPD points.

The student ambassadors also had the opportunity to present on the theme of ‘The Future of Contact Lenses’. A fellow ambassador and I gave a presentation on the subject of "Sustainability in Contact Lenses". While presenting in front of so many people was a nerve-wracking experience, it was great to have the opportunity to raise awareness regarding the developments that are already being made and what else is needed to make contact lenses more sustainable.

One of the best parts of attending the conference was being able to meet the other student ambassadors. It was a wonderful experience getting to know each other, and we had a great time together. This was also my first time visiting Manchester; I thought it was a great city, and I would love to return someday!

Overall, attending the BCLA Clinical Conference for the first time was a highly valuable experience, and I would strongly recommend attending the BCLA Clinical Conference to anyone in the field of contact lenses looking to expand their knowledge and network with like-minded individuals.
