BCLA Student Ambassador Noura's first BCLA Conference

My name is Noura, and I am a currently studying optometry at Bradford University. I am a Sudanese refugee and I arrived in the UK in December 2016.  Since then,  I have received a lot of support from organisations that care about educating young people and enabling them to interact and socialise with our community. Which made it a bit more easier to fit in well with the community, learning the language and culture and to feel at home here in the UK.

For this reason, I am extremely grateful, for my first experience at the BCLA and I want to thank the BCLA for giving us young people a chance and an opportunity to attend my first ever clinical conference and to be able to explore the amazing experiences here at the conference. Where each of us got the opportunity to witness the diversity of the optical world in its natural setting and the magnificently developing digital change that is assisting us in enhancing the health of our eyes. I found it very inspiring and it has now motivated me even more in my studies and I hope to be able to continue to attend such events in the future.

Finally, BCLA gives us the inspiration to pursue more education and research in order to be the best we can be while still contributing to our work, rather than just graduating, and working as an optometrist; as with BCLA we always learning!
