Chance to ‘Make A Difference’ at Dutch congress

A call for papers has been issued ahead of the seventh Dutch Contact Lens Congress in Veldhoven next March, with eye care professionals urged to submit their work for pre-screening.

Under the theme of ‘Make A Difference’, practitioners have been encouraged to contribute to the science stream and submit case reports.

The symposium is designed to showcase world class clinically relevant research, it also aims to nurture new researchers, clinicians and young academics to present at this level.

All abstracts will be published in Contact Lens and Anterior Eye (CLAE). Submissions for the symposium should be in the form of abstracts and can be a paper or electronic poster (to be allocated by the Academic Committee) with case reports also encouraged.

Abstracts must contain the following:

• A clear statement of hypothesis, an explanation of robust methods (such as cross-over and randomised trials with appropriate controls of sufficient sample size), a full report of the resulting data that unequivocally test the hypothesis and a brief discussion of their implications in the conclusion.
• Subject matter should be topical, novel and must contain original data (including actual numbers with standard deviations and significance values where appropriate) - it is important the study is completed rather than expected findings are stated
• Abstract results must be of significant scientific value to advance the understanding or advancement of the field. Literature review abstracts will be rejected.
• Commercial relationships must be fully disclosed. Predominantly commercial abstracts will be rejected unless they report new scientific research developments.

A pre-screening service is available to aid authors in developing abstracts that will meet the above criteria. The deadline for pre-screening is October 31 while final submissions must be made by December 15.

The Congress will take place on Sunday 11 and Monday 12 March 2018 in Veldhoven, The Netherlands. This meeting started in 2006 as a small local congress but has developed into a well-respected and internationally recognised meeting.

More information about this event can be found at www.ncc2018.com, with registrations open from November 1, and submissions can be made via www.bcla.org.uk.
