Established in Japan in 1951, Menicon is one of the largest global contact lens manufacturers with a presence in over 80 countries in the world.  We place our highest priority on eye health, using our precision craftsmanship to help people see life in wonderful detail.

Why Menicon?

Our UK headquarters are in Northampton, which is where we manufacture and distribute our specialist lenses, built on decades of expertise.  This location is also our distribution point for frequent replacement lenses, supplying ECP customers the length and breadth of the UK.   

Our portfolio includes daily, monthly and specialist lenses in sphere, toric and multi focal parameters to suit the vast majority of patients. We continually innovate.  The rising incidence of myopia in young people is one of the most serious challenges facing our profession and we are proud to be one of the leaders in tackling this issue.   Later this year, we will unveil Menicon BLOOM™, the most comprehensive treatment plan in the world for myopia control.    

Origami brand

Menicon has launched a new brand identity based on origami, the art of paper folding, which is closely associated with Japanese culture.  The idea behind the new identity is to highlight Menicon’s core values and Japanese heritage which are centred on applying precision and craftsmanship to help people to see ‘in detail’.  

Protecting the Environment

We seek to minimise our impact on the environment and have signed up to the United Nations’ 

17 Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.  Take our Miru 1day Flat Pack as an example:
• 80% reduction in the plastic used for packaging
• 99% of plastic used in manufacturing process is recycled
• 100% recycled plastic used to make the lens packaging

The global pandemic has focussed attention on hygiene like never before.  The unique eco-friendly SmartTouch™ packaging of Miru 1day ensures that patients only touch the outer surface of the lens and that it is always inserted the right way up.
