BCLA Webinar: Keratoconus: In practice (How to treat with contact lenses)

This session will explore how contact lens fitting in keratoconus has evolved over the last 20 years and what are the newest developments on the market. We will look at a range of different types of contact lens, their indications and potential complications and also offer some clinical pearls on fitting techniques and troubleshooting.

SPEAKERS
Rachel Davison
Rachel is a Specialist Optometrist with 11 years of experience in medical contact lens fitting. She studied optometry at Ulster University and graduated in 2013 and is a non-medical independent prescriber. She spent 4 years working in Moorfields Eye Hospital and now works for the Belfast Trust. As well as the contact lens clinics, she also works in the Eye Casualty, corneal and paediatric services. 



Bronagh Clarke
Bronagh is a Specialist Optometrist with 15 years of experience in complex medical contact lens fitting. She was previously Joint Head of the Contact Lens Department at Moorfields Eye Hospital from 2018 – 2023 and has since relocated home to Northern Ireland and now works in the Belfast Trust. She studied optometry at Cardiff University and graduated in 2009, completed her Masters in Clinical Optometry with City University in 2017 and is a non-medical independent prescriber. As well as working in the contact lens clinics, she also works in the Eye Casualty and cataract services in Belfast. She has worked with colleagues in Moorfields to establish the use of In Vivo Confocal Microscopy in clinical care and has published and presented in this area. She has presented at conferences such as BCLA, Brighton Cornea conference and the Hertford keratoconus and scleral lens symposium.
